Build Inn is celebrating 30 years in existence in East London. It is essentially a family business with CEO and founder, Cyril van Seumeren working together with his two sons and daughter. Martin the elder son joined during 1990 closely followed by younger son Andrew in 1991 & more recently Jo-Anne on the admin side.

Cyril, who matriculated at De La Salle College in 1959, first supplied and fitted garage doors in 1970 while was operating as a timber and board business, already founded in 1967. A sell out to the PG Group in 1977 and a brief un-successful but enjoyable venture into the clothing business (Remember Plum?) saw him start again in 1981 as a specialist supplier and installer of garage doors.

Cyril re-invented in varied activities. Automation, industrial doors, an aluminium window and door factory (Sold in 1990), an aluminium gutter factory on wheels, aluminium security shutters,  acoustic operable wall partitions and hi-speed doors  followed as well as the selling of fireplaces and BBQs. Being appointed as an Xpanda distributor also created an off shoot, Build Inn Security,  run by Gerry Gericke a friend since school days. This covers the marketing of the full range of trellis security doors and barriers.

Build Inn relocated  to premises with a showroom at  9 Pontoon Road in 2008 after outgrowing their former location. Having more space created the opportunity to manufacture roller shutter doors locally enabling the company to offer an almost instant delivery. 

Build Inn has through the years built up a reputation with all the major players in the border area. Mercedes Benz, Aspen Pharmacare, Nestle, EL Industrial Development Zone and major shopping complexes have benefited from their expertise for protection and security. The hinterland has also been an area in which Build Inn has worked extensively with installations at shopping centres and major wholesalers.  There is also an increasing trend towards new and existing doors also being electrically operated for ease of use.

Today Build Inn has eleven trucks on the road and is unique in offering a  vast range of household and industrial doors and barriers under one roof,  all installed by experts in their field. Boasting a staff of 40,people some of whom have been on the payroll since inception, clients can be assured of the best service in East London and the Border area.
